WHAT HISTORY DO WE COLLECT?

Our organization strives to honor the history of Hotshot crews, from their initial certification to present day operations. In 2025, our History Committee will begin to uncover those lesser-known pieces of history that reveal how each crew got their start.

Here's what we're looking to collect:

  • Crew origins and name changes - what's your story?

  • Official IHC certification date

  • Logo evolution and the meaning behind the changes

  • Noteworthy traditions:

    • Belt buckles - how they're earned and what they mean

    • What goes down during Hell Week

    • Where's your go-to PT spot?

    • Birthday or special event shenanigans?

  • What's a typical morning like - how quick do you need to be ready to roll and in the buggy?

  • Crew mottos or catchphrases?

We especially welcome photographs and stories about your crew's traditions, commemorative items (like those belt buckles and logos!), and any other pieces of history that tell your crew's unique story.

HOW DOES THE US HOTSHOTS ASSOCIATION SHARE HOTSHOT HISTORY?

We're all about getting these amazing stories out there - both on our website and at our annual conferences. But here's the thing: we can't do it without you! Your support helps keep these foundational Hotshot histories alive and available for future generations. Help us make this a reality in 2025.
