2023 USHA Conference

We are thrilled to host the 2023 US HOTSHOTS ASSOCIATION TRAINING CONFERENCE & REUNION. All are Welcome! ALL ARE WELCOME MEANS, EVERYONE! THIS IS NOT A R5 THING AT ALL. THIS CONFERENCE, AS IN PAST CONFERENCES, IS FOR ALL REGIONS AND THEIR FAMILIES. Come join our family of wildfire friends! The Association, as a community and resource, is here for all firefighters and fire families.

Green pants, blue pants, black pants; red trucks, white trucks, yellow trucks, green trucks; State, Federal, Local Govt.; Saw, Scrape, Puller, Squaddie, Supt.; former Hotshot, current Hotshot, aspiring Hotshot, Hotshot appreciator, Hotshot family: we are an inclusive group, and our conference builds bonds. Learn with us and help us learn from you! Everyone’s unique experience and perspective holds immense value!

This year’s USHA Conference & Reunion will be held in San Diego, California, from March 22-24. This year marks 20th Anniversary of the Cedar Fire

We’re proud to continue a tradition begun last year: organizing the conference around a significant fire and facilitating a staff ride. By bringing fire folks together around the Cedar Fire of 2003, we fulfill two of our Association missions—to preserve and share Hotshot History, and to advance and share the Hotshot skill set (Preserving the past, paying it forward)—while fundraising for our third critical mission, to support Hotshots and Hotshot families in times of need.


Wednesday, Mar. 22:

  • 0900-1200: BOD Meeting
  • 1400-1700: All-Members Meeting. All are welcome! Come be a part of the direction of USHA, learn about our programs, get involved and meet fellow active Members!
  • 1800-2100: Icebreaker Social Evening, patio/poolside

Thursday, Mar. 23

  • 0900: Cedar Staff Ride Intro & Orientation
  • 1300-1400: Presentation 1
  • 1415-1515: Presentation 2
  • 1530-1630: Presentation 3
  • 1700-end: Hotshot Reunion Social Evening, patio/poolside

Friday, Mar. 24: 0630: Staff ride depart Holiday Inn San Diego Bayside.

  • 1600: Staff ride wraps, back to hotel. Integration at final stand.
  • 1700: Fundraiser Dinner is served
  • 1730-1800: Keynote Speaker
  • 1815-1930: Greybeard’s Panel
  • 1930-close: Charity Poker game and cocktails

Staff Ride and all events are optional! Come to one event, stay for all, we’re thrilled for you to join!

We will have number caps for the staff ride. First Come First Serve! Sign up early!

  • Staff Ride is capped at 48

A room block has been set aside from March 20 – 25, 2023, at HOLIDAY INN SAN DIEGO BAYSIDE, at a discounted rate of $189/night pre-tax. One night or all nights can be booked. Make a SoCal vacation out of it even!
